PLAN-B Citizen Science Workshop

AquaPLAN’s sister project, PLAN-B held a citizen science workshop on their Lost at Night application (app) on 26 September 2024. The workshop gave attendees the opportunity to beta test the first version of the app and share their initial feedback and impressions on its functionality and their user experience. Along with a discussion of the vital role individuals play in our citizen science activities to better understand and manage light pollution, a thorough overview of the app’s capabilities and functionality was provided by the PLAN-B team.

Lost at Night will be one of PLAN-B’s results for the analysis of light pollution in Europe, providing new evidence through the use of citizen science methodologies. The recording of the held workshop is publicly available and can be accessed here. To improve the app and make it easier to use, the PLAN-B consortium will compile the suggestions and remarks made during the workshop. The first draft of the European light pollution map will be publicly presented in November, along with a larger workshop to exhibit the upgraded app.
