AquaPLAN partners present at OCEANOISE 2026
Rosalyn Seddon (Cefas) and Lise Doksæter Sivle (IMR) represented AquaPLAN at OCEANOISE 2026 in Vilanova i la Geltrú, Spain, from 25-29 May 2026. The conference brought together scientists, policymakers, and industry to tackle one of the ocean’s most invisible but growing pressures: underwater noise. Rosalyn completed two presentations: the first outlined AquaPLAN’s early findings from stakeholder engagement and a technical evaluation of mitigation options, generating strong interest in cumulative effects and a practical solution for reducing pressures at source; the second outlined the OSPAR Regional Action Plan for Underwater Noise, a coordinated management plan to reduce anthropogenic noise across the North East Atlantic by 2030 through targets, spatial planning integration, and sector-specific mitigation measures.
Lise presented AquaPLAN’s study on the combined effects of anthropogenic noise and Artificial Light at Night (ALAN) from shipping on predator and prey behaviour in offshore areas of Norway.
