The Dark Side of Light
To continue AquaPLAN’s work on local outreach and environmental awareness regarding light pollution, our project’s coordinator from the University of Pisa, Elena Maggi, will attend the Il Lato Oscuro Della Luce – Caratteristiche e impatti ambientali dell’inquinamento luminoso notturno (The Dark Side of the Light – Characterisitics and Environmental Impacts of Night Light Pollution) conference to discuss the topic on Wednesday 25 March 2026.
This event is bringing researchers, citizens and nature enthusiasts together to explore how artificial light affects our waters, wildlife and wellbeing. Light pollution doesn’t just dim our night skies—it disrupts aquatic species, alters natural rhythms and threatens biodiversity, our coordinator Elena Maggi will be there to discuss. Understanding these impacts is the first step toward meaningful change.
The event, held at Palazzo Binelli in Cararra (Italy), starts at 5:30pm and will explore the characteristics and environmental impacts of night-time light pollution. It is organised by Legambiente Carrara APS, in collaboration with AquaPLAN. Don’t miss this chance to learn, connect and be part of a growing movement to restore healthier, darker and more resilient environments.
