DARKER SKY Final Project Conference

The DARKER SKY project will present its final results at a dedicated conference on 25 August 2026 in Brest, France, held within the 15th European Conference for Ecological Restoration (SERE2026).

Hosted by the University of Brest and running from 24 – 28 August 2026, the event will showcase three years of work aimed at reducing light pollution across the North Sea Region. Key outcomes to be presented include:

  • A Light Pollution Mapping and Monitoring Guide
  • Assessments of eight pilot light‑reduction solutions
  • A Sky Brightness Map for selected regions
  • Regional Action Plans for implementing light‑reduction measures
  • A Transnational Strategy to reduce light pollution and strengthen dark ecological corridors

The conference will take place in person at the University of Brest’s Pôle Numérique du Bouguen and will also be livestreamed online. Attendance is free, including for those not registered for the full SERE conference.
