Don’t miss the EDIT-A-THON dedicated to light and noise pollution

On Saturday 16 November 2024, there will be an edit-a-thon dedicated to light and noise pollution!

So what is an edit-a-thon?! The word comes from the contraction of the terms “editing” and “marathon”, a content creation marathon to learn how to write and expand entries on Wikipedia! The event will take place from 9am-3pm in the Aula Savi of the Botanical Garden and Museum in Pisa, Italy. The first of two events, it’s free and will start after a short introduction on light pollution and its environmental consequences, followed by a practical session of content writing. Information materials and technical support will be provided to facilitate the work of the participants. The event is aimed at university students, teachers and researchers, no prior experience with Wikipedia is necessary. Participants are just asked to bring their own laptop and charger. Refreshments will be provided.

The event is organised with complementary funding from the project “Open Science for Noise and Light Pollution” of Wikimedia CH, which aims to involve volunteers and students to improve and create content on Wikipedia about light pollution. Participants will have the opportunity to collaborate with experts in the field and volunteers with expertise in Wikipedia to enrich the entries in one of the most consulted online encyclopedias in the world.
