AquaPLAN at 14th International Temperate Reefs Symposium in Brest

This week AquaPLAN is at the 14th International Temperate Reefs Symposium (ITRS2025), our reef researchers from the University of Pisa (UNIPI), Stazione Zoologica Anton Dohrn (SZN), University of Plymouth (UOP) and our newest partner University of New South Wales (UNSW) all gathered in Brest, France!
On Tuesday 1 July, AquaPLAN coordinator Elena Maggi (UNIPI) gave the keynote speech, ‘New approaches to the study of temperate reefs: night-time light pollution and the role of the microbiome‘. During the same session, her UNIPI colleague Martina Mulas’ presentation was on AquaPLAN’s research of ‘Novel approaches to monitoring light and noise pollution in subtidal coastal habitats‘.
Finally, then today on Friday 4 July, Thomas Davies (UOP) presented AquaPLAN’s research within ‘Changing Marine Lightscapes‘ while his UOP colleague Charlotte Underwood presented her research poster ‘Aquatic Pollution from Light & Anthropogenic Noise (AquaPLAN) shaping temperate rocky shores‘. The AquaPLAN promotional poster developed by ERINN Innovation was also on display!
